Book Review

Here's a sample of the text by Isaiah Bennet and James Akin.  There's not much I can add to this:

"Knock! Knock!
They're not inside your house, yet.  But maybe it's raining or scorching hot or bone-numbing cold.  And the poor guys are on bikes.  Your Catholic heart goes out to them.  But wait.  Have you asked them to visit?  Or did they show up unexpected?  Are they "just in the neighborhood today" to "share the gospel"?  Are they delivering a video that you thought you were getting with "no strings attached"?  Could you have agreed, under pressure, to let one of your Mormon friends send them?
Think hard!  If you let them in and listen to their presentation, you've taken the first step they want you to take.  A foot in the door is all that's needed, and the young missionaries have been well trained to make that move."

[Most of what I skimmed sounds like a political campaign ad for the re-election of Jesus.  I enjoy reading it in the sneering tone of a campaign ad voice-over.]

"Ultimately, it comes down to a question of trust.  Who are you going to trust more?  Jesus Christ or Joseph Smith?   The two are not in agreement.  In his day, Jesus Christ raised the standards of morality, including sexual morality, and he himself lived chastely; Joseph Smith lessened the rules of sexual morality for his own benefit, introducing polygamy after impregnating a young female houseguest.  Jesus Christ proclaimed the word of God and gave all his teachings in public; Joseph Smith hid key rituals of his new religion and claimed to have access to secret scriptures that no one was allowed to see.  Jesus Christ died a martyr's death, not resisting those who were unjustly putting him to death; Joseph Smith died shooting a firearm in a jailhouse gun battle following his arrest for ordering the destruction of a newspaper critical of him.
One cannot believe both Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith.  The question is: Which are YOU going to believe?  Which are YOU going to trust with your immortal soul?"

[Jesus Christ stands on his record, what do YOU stand on, Joseph Smith?
Paid for by the committee to re-elect Jesus Christ.]
